Soon enough I will be 69. I have a dream. It is a great way to leave a legacy. My dream is that people will again open up to peoples different from themselves. My dream includes that future generations will put behind themselves the increase in hatred and segregation which now composes large chunks of our various communities. We should teach even young kids to have the audacity to dream; the courage to confront obstacles and the perseverance needed to successfully live a good life.
Dreams are important to the quality of a society, the advancement of a civilization and for the common good of humanity. My dreams are that we as a society will reach out to the millions in school whose greater strengths might not include academic studies. The human brain is still a mystery to our educators. As a nation we must invest more in non-academic schooling.
Our vast majority of young adults… a bit more than 60 percent will not achieve a college degree. Still we as a nation need to grant these young people opportunities to establish trade, IT or restaurant and resort skills. And these skilled and talented jobs must be made available to create, sustain and grow solid Middle Class and Upper Middle Class jobs with solid wages and benefits. Why? This is to sustain, prove and update our national infrastructure and basic essentials like food and shelter.
Please pray that this particular dream will find a place in our unfolding history as a nation. If it does and others’ similar dreams come true, America will become a better nation. Let us again restore the dignity of work, the dignity of the worker and the dignity of skilled labor. Amen.
